Andrea Vallejo-Dismukes is a 1996 graduate of the University of South Alabama and a licensed and registered Occupational Therapist with over 20 years of experience in Alabama and Florida. She is a current member of The American Occupational Therapy Association. Her specialties include acute care, skilled nursing, ergonomics, workman’s comp rehab, in-patient and out-patient rehab, home health, and pediatrics. Andrea was Director of Occupational Therapy at Flowers Hospital from 1998 until 2002. She continued to focus on adult and geriatric populations until 2008. It was then that she transitioned into pediatric school based and private clinic settings. She is now at Child and Family Services working full time.
Andrea is passionate about pediatrics. Working with a diverse caseload, which ranges from autism to dysgraphia, she focuses on the physical “occupations” of life in each of three primary areas: work, play, and self-care. Andrea makes learning fun by incorporating therapeutic exercise and activities to address deficits involving motor development skills, sensory processing, and visual perceptual skills. She also focuses on improving cognitive components, such as sequencing, memory/recall, safety and problem solving. Using a comprehensive approach, Andrea helps students develop the skills they need to grow into functional and independent adults.
Teletherapy is offered for all services. Tutoring is also available online.
